The Imum Coeli (IC) is the chart angle opposite the Midheaven, at the lower intersection of the local meridian and ecliptic. Its Latin name is often translated as “bottom of the sky.”

The IC depends on a stated time, location, and coordinate method. Many house systems place it at the fourth-house cusp, while other layouts do not make “IC” and “fourth house” exact synonyms.

Astrological traditions associate the IC with home, roots, privacy, or a personal foundation. Those themes are reflective conventions, not facts about someone’s family or guaranteed property events.
