Solar return calculator

Find the Sun’s return to its natal longitude around a chosen birthday and inspect the resulting chart for an explicitly selected location.

A solar return is the moment when the Sun reaches the same tropical longitude it had at birth. It usually falls near the birthday, but not necessarily at the same clock time or even on the same civil date. This tool calculates that moment and its chart.

Birth details

Use the place’s time zone, such as Europe/Warsaw or America/Sao_Paulo. Keep the recorded clock time; do not adjust for summer time yourself.

One fixed download; the selected country or city is never sent in a request.

Return location

Leave both fields empty to use the birthplace. To calculate the return chart elsewhere, enter both coordinates. Keep the original birth details above.

Place data: GeoNames geographical database,CC BY 4.0. Snapshot retrieved . The cities15000 directory does not include every settlement; manual coordinates and time zones remain available.

No name, email or account is needed. Your details stay on your device. Use the clear button to remove entered details and results.

How to use this tool

Enter the birth details and the birthday year you want to inspect. The calculation finds the nearby return rather than assuming midnight on the birthday. Coordinates determine the return chart’s local horizon and houses; they do not change the geocentric moment of the solar return.

How to read the result

Read the exact instant separately from the chart constructed for a location. Changing the location changes the horizon and houses, while the target solar longitude is the same. The year means the birthday being considered; a January birthday can have its return in late December of the preceding civil year.

Method and limits

Dates and numerical house limitations match the full natal tool. The result is not an annual prediction and does not tell you where to travel to guarantee a better year. An incorrect birth time remains an input uncertainty that no return calculation removes.

The calculation uses Astronomy Engine 2.1.19 and, where applicable, the project’s offline time-scale and house geometry modules. Mathematical positions and traditional interpretation remain separate.Read the full methodology.
